Hot Southern Cider

8 cups of apple cider
12 whole cloves
2 cinnamon sticks, broken into pieces
1 teaspoon of allspice

Place all of the ingredients in a large saucepan and bring to a boil over high heat, stirring constantly. As soon as the mixture comes to a boil,  remove from the heat and strain through a fine sieve. Serve immediately. Makes 1 quart

Quick tip: African flags make wonderful decorations four you African American History Month celebration. You can often get flags from embassies or consulates. Since most African flags are composed of simple designs, you can also make them out of felt. If you are planning a large gathering, consider placing miniature flags representing different African countries on each table.
