| Fresh Fruit Stuffing
2 tablespoons of butter or margarine 1 cup of chopped fresh celery 1 cup of chopped onion 1 3/4 teaspoons of salt 1/4 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper 1/2 teaspoon of powdered sage 1/2 teaspoon of thyme leaves, crumbled 6 cups of dry bread cubes, about 10 slices 2 medium apples, cored and chopped 1 cup of seedless grapes, halved 11/2 cup of coarsely chopped walnuts or pecans 2 eggs, slightly beaten
Melt butter in large skillet over medium heat. Sauté celery and onions until tender, about 8 minutes. Stir in salt, pepper, sage and thyme. In large bowl, mix bread cubes, apples, grapes and nuts. Stir in onion mixture and eggs, toss lightly. Stuff lightly into body and neck cavity of prepared turkey. Makes enough stuffing for a 12 pound turkey |
