Spread the hazelnuts in a shallow baking pan and toast in a 350ºF. oven until pale golden beneath the skins, about 10 minutes. Let it cool slightly, then use your fingers to rub off the skins. Chop nuts coarsely. Mound the cheese on a board or platter. Sprinkle with hazelnuts. Place the apples alongside for spreading. Makes 8 to 10 servings |
